The Forest – New Open World Game

The Forest is a first-person open world-survival horror video game in development by Endnight Games for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4. The game’s pre-alpha version was released through Steam Early Access on May 30, 2014.

The game takes place on a heavily forested island where the player character is a lone survivor of a plane crash. The game is an open world sandbox, with no set missions or quests, empowering the player to make their own decisions for survival. Early reviews for the pre-alpha version were highly positive. The alpha is currently in a playable state with additional gameplay features planned and in development.

Enter a living, breathing forest with changing weather patterns, plants that grow and die. Tides that roll in and out with the day/night cycle. Below ground explore a vast network of caves and underground lakes. You will need to chop down trees to build a camp, or start a fire to keep warm. Scavenge food and plant seeds to keep yourself from starving. Build a small shelter or a large ocean side fortress. decorate your home with found items. Lay traps and defenses to keep a safe perimeter. Explore and build during the day. Defend your base at night. Craft weapons and tools. Bunker down during the evening or bring the fight directly to the enemy.
